Internship program
The internship program is held since 2011 and it is funded by the EU and national sources in the framework and the Operational Program “Education and Lifelong Learning” of the Ministry of Education.
The scientific coordinator of the program is Dr. S. Papaioannou, Assistant Professor.
Aims
The aims of the Internship program include:
- Connection of students with the business environment to offer professional orientation and familiarization with the labor market’s needs
- Exploration of students’ professional talents and capabilities
- Development of students’ business relationships and experience with the labor market (real life conditions)
- Familiarization with labor market prospective agencies, organizations and businesses, contact with each firms’ department of human resources, exploitation of students’ knowledge and skills acquired within the department
- Connection – interaction of “academic theoretical knowledge with professional practice” so as to support and improve students’ skills and knowledge, especially for academic courses directly related to the Greek labor market
Rules
The basic rules of the program are:
- The duration of the internship is three (3) months (consecutive)
- During the academic year 2023-24 it financed up to ninety (90) positions. The student salary is determined by the program
- Eligibility: The internship program concerns only 4th year students. It is an optional elective course at the 8th semester
- The internship tasks are strictly of an economic/financial /administrative nature and the employer can belong to the private or public sector. The employer does not pay any compensation or securing costs for the students (these as well as the salary are covered by the program itself)
Results
In a brief summary (academic year 2023-24), the program results are the following:
- 88 students applied in the first announcement of the program and 6 applied in the second announcement of the program. 57 students – in total – participate actively (have initiated) after placement in internship positions.
