There are two academic semesters in each academic year (a total of 8 semesters). Each academic semester consists of about thirteen teaching weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The degree-program consists of\u00a0<strong>compulsory\u00a0<\/strong>courses that every student must take (core courses), and courses that can be chosen by students according to their special interests (<strong>elective\u00a0<\/strong>courses).<\/p>\n<p>Currently, economics students\u00a0are offered a total of 56 semester-long economic courses. Of these, 20 are compulsory courses and 36 are elective courses. Nine out of the 36 elective courses are provided by the <em>Department of Business Administration.<\/em> Students normally take 4 or 5 courses (core\/elective) per semester.
