{"id":1855,"date":"2023-08-27T08:46:47","date_gmt":"2023-08-27T06:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/econ.wpnet.upatras.gr\/undergraduate\/"},"modified":"2024-07-18T17:27:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T15:27:52","slug":"undergraduate","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.econ.upatras.gr\/en\/undergraduate\/","title":{"rendered":"Undergraduate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<strong>scope of the Undergraduate Programme<\/strong>, taking into account the constraints, is to provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A decent\u00a0<strong>general economics curriculum<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Decent in the sense of conforming with generally accepted standards of respectable education in Europe and North America<\/li>\n<li>Decent in the sense of being satisfactory, adequate and sufficient to our students and fair and ample to the staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Service\u00a0<\/strong>other departments of the university, especially in Engineering and Positive Sciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The department provides a\u00a0<strong>four-year single-subject degree programme in Economics<\/strong>, firmly grounded in\u00a0<em>economic theory<\/em>\u00a0(micro and macro),\u00a0<em>quantitative methods<\/em>\u00a0(maths and econometrics) and\u00a0<em>applied economics subjects<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Goals and Objectives of the Undergraduate Curriculum<\/strong>\u00a0are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A sound coverage of all\u00a0<strong>core economics subjects<\/strong>\u00a0divided into three groups:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Foundation\u00a0<\/strong>(introductory economics, microeconomics, macroeconomics)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading and writing skills<\/strong>\u00a0(mathematics, statistics, econometrics, operational research)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Core economics<\/strong>\u00a0(public economics, development economics, industrial organization, labour economics, economic policy, economics of the firm, international trade, history of economic thought)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A fair coverage of\u00a0<strong>contemporary economics and associated subjects and quantitative skills<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Contemporary subjects<\/strong>\u00a0(economics of technology and innovation, economics of human capital, economics of education, environmental economics, rural economics, economic geography, and many others)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Associated subjects<\/strong>\u00a0(accounting, management)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quantitative skills<\/strong>\u00a0(applied econometrics, data analysis, advanced statistics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In June 2019 our undergraduate program of study in Economics has been accredited by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adip.gr\/en\">Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA<\/a>) as being\u00a0<em>fully compliant<\/em>\u00a0to the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (<u><a href=\"https:\/\/enqa.eu\/index.php\/home\/esg\/\">ESG 2015<\/a><\/u>).
