The main purpose of my PhD research proposal is the evaluation of the evolution of different aspects of industrial/country energy, environmental and productive performance in the context of European Union. This framework is of great importance as several environmental policies, regulations and directives were initiated the last few decades. Different indicators of efficiency are examined, as well as a productivity index taking into account the environmental nature of the production process under a meta-frontier framework. An additional aim is to study the influence of distinct aspects, such as R&D expenses and technological change, on the industrial efficiency.
